The Athens Cancer Center has incorporated the latest in ultrasound IGRT (Image Guided Radiation Therapy) with installation of the NOMOS® Radiation Oncology's BAT system, utilized most frequently for daily, real-time, localization of the prostate in IMRT of prostate cancer. This allows for additional precision when treating prostate cancer, further limiting radiation of adjacent, radiation sensitive tissues, thereby limiting or avoiding side-effects.
